at the end of the day, when the kids have gone to bed, mommy and daddy discuss how each kid has behaved. a 75% good behavior rate is normally what's necessary for a smiley. the kids then see the results in the morning when they wake up. this tally sheet comes up every other month or so. if you use it month-in-month-out then it loses meaning. you also need to make sure it is linked to a positive reinforcement (rewards) programme. it's kinda like a frequent flyers card, hehehe.
